Anna Hand Honored with 2026 Harvey Knepp Award

During this year's Senior Awards Night, the Dover community gathered at the Dover High School Auditorium to celebrate the accomplishments of its outstanding students. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2026 Harvey Knepp Award to Anna Hand.

About the Harvey Knepp Scholarship

The Harvey Knepp Scholarship pays tribute to Harvey Knepp, Dover High School’s esteemed former principal. Mr. Knepp began his tenure at the school as a physics teacher in 1950, subsequently serving as principal from 1962 to 1975, and retiring from teaching in 1982. He was recognized for his compassionate nature and his unwavering advocacy for students.

This scholarship is annually bestowed upon the "Unsung Hero" of the senior class – a student who exemplifies quiet leadership and integrity through their actions. This award reflects Mr. Knepp's profound conviction in the inherent worth and potential of all Dover High School students, and it also honors his own humble and heroic character.

Meet This Year's Recipient: Anna Hand

Anna Hand, this year's recipient, was awarded the Harvey Knepp Scholarship in recognition of her quiet leadership, integrity, and positive impact on the Dover High School community.

A lifelong Dover resident, Anna plans to attend the University of New Hampshire in the fall, where she will major in Studio Art and pursue her master’s degree. Her passion for art and for working with teenagers and children has helped shape her goal of becoming a high school art teacher.

Anna’s dedication to creativity, learning, and community reflects the values at the heart of the Harvey Knepp Scholarship.

“I’ve lived in Dover my whole life and I’m incredibly grateful to have received the Harvey Knepp Scholarship,” Anna shared.

Ceremony Highlights

During the ceremony, SEED President Sue Vitko addressed the audience, underscoring the importance of perpetuating Mr. Knepp's legacy through this scholarship. Her poignant remarks and the presentation of the award to Anna captured the essence of community and purpose that the scholarship embodies.
